924 Foam Blanket 5mm 2000mm x 1150mm
924 Foam Blanket 5mm 2000mm x 1150mm
Fine textured grey foam blanket for use in heated flat bed and vacuum presses
Placing a foam sheet between the glass or metal platen of a heated press and the release paper over the workpiece helps reduce the orange peel effect.
Many lined boards for mounting have core of pulp, which often has micro hills and valleys. The pressure of a hard platen surface may shine the peaks, called ‘orange peel’. Using a foam blanket helps to even out the pressure and minimise this effect.
When hot over-laminating digital prints on canvas, a thicker 13mm foam blanket helps press the film into the weave of the canvas to enhance the canvas texture.
For an HGP 260 Vacuum Press, 1194mm x 890mm:
Cut to 1150 x 890mm to make two blankets for an HGP260, leaving a handy offcut.
For an HGP 360 Vacuum Press, 1690mm x 1089mm:
Trim sheet to 1690 x 1080mm to make one blanket for an HGP360, leaving handy offcuts.
For a flat-bed Heated Press, 25” x 25” / 635mm x 635mm:
Trim blanket to 762 x 762mm or larger to make two blankets for a 25” x 25” flat bed press. To minimise edge marks when doing step-and-repeat work, a flat sheet of aluminium, 20g or similar should sit above the foam and below the top heated platen.
The volume of 13mm foam blanket may slow the draw cycle of a vacuum press.
This foam is easily cut to size to suit other sizes. The foam meets fire regulations for furniture use. Made in UK.
