10751 Acid free Dry Mounting Film 1040mm x 25m roll
A unique heat activated dry mounting adhesive film. It melts during the heating process and bonds as it cools
Neutral pH, inert, stable, 100% film adhesive with no tissue carrier. It is very similar to Fusion 4000™ and Film 4000™.
Acid-free pure film adhesive that works well with delicate or uneven papers and fabrics. Bonds photographs, prints, fabric and parchment to a variety of substrates.
- The range of uses is very wide. It may be patched, overlapped and pieced together because it flows under heat and pressure.
- It can be self-trimming. Its transparency makes it perfect for use with coloured substrates for colour tinting.
- Use with traditional photographs, including polyester Cibachrome® and RC®.
- Good for medium-weight fabrics, canvas and art papers.
Directions:
Acid-free Hot Mount Film is designed for use with flat bed, mechanical and hot vacuum presses at temperature range 77°C – 88°C. Always test temperature and dwell time.
All layers of the workpiece sandwich must reach full minimum adhesive activation temperature for the appropriate time in order to create the desired bond.
Tip: works best when a weight like a thick wooden board is placed on top while cooling.
Step-by-step:
- Preheat the press to the desired temperature. To pre-dry all layers, except the adhesive, place brown paper or similar between them. Place in press and close for about 30 seconds.
- Tack the art to the substrate using tacking Iron. Stack layers with release paper or release film. Or use pre-made top and/or bottom release sheets.
- Test and set timer to bond layers and close press. When time up, remove workpiece and place under a weight to cool.
- Once cool, check for a good bond. If not fully bonded, place workpiece back in press at same temperature for a longer than originally set. It must reach the full bonding temperature again plus the additional time to extend the bonding time and improve the bond.
Specification:
- Adhesive is pH7, free of acid. Thickness is 0.05mm, with no base material
- Operating temperature range: 77°C - 93°C Suggested temperature: 83°C - 88°C (always test)
- Dwell time in vacuum press: 3-5 minutes after draw. Also works in flat bed and mechanical heated presses.
Cautions:
- It is not the best choice for some coloured digital prints as it has a higher operating temperature.
- Never use it, or any heat bonding process, on parchment, vellum or original art.
- Adhesive re-activates when re-heated and is often removable. Some media, like sheer papers, silks and over-heated temperatures may have limited removability. If slow to release, try re-heating a little hotter and longer, then carefully peel apart before it cools.
