Easily mount a cricket ball or baseball for framing

Mounting sports items is a popular request from customers and a profitable framing task for framers.

This cricket ball and baseball mounting clip is carefully shaped from 3mm clear acrylic. One screw fixes the clip to the backing board. A kit to mount one ball includes the acrylic Mounting Clip and fixing screw, 25mm x 5.4mm with nut and washers. Ideal when making up cricket ball and baseball display cases.

Fixing the clip: If fixing to a hard backing, like hardboard, MDF, Di-bond and similar, use the countersunk screw with the small flat washer.

If fixing to foam board or similar softer material, use the larger 25mm flat washer on the back to spread the load. Cut off excess screw thread.

Placing the ball into the clip: With one arm facing upwards, place the ball onto what will be the two bottom arms roughly where you want it to finally sit, the seam of a cricket ball for example. Carefully flex the arm up to allow the ball to be squeezed into the cradle of the three arms. Do not put a big strain on any one arm. Folding pieces of thin slightly stiff film like polyester around the ball helps it slide into place without marking.
