For colouring dense hard wood moulding such as mahogany and oak

  • Easy to apply
  • Ethanol based formula
  • Suitable for wax and oil finishes
  • Quick drying and penetrates deep into wood
  • Ideal for colouring previously finished woods
  • All colours can be mixed - useful for repairs and blending

Liberon Wood Dye is ideal for use on hard bare wood moulding and for furniture restoration. It is a traditional dye which penetrates deep into the wood.

It can be mixed together to obtain intermediate shades, and is suitable for colouring dense hardwoods such as mahogany and oak, as well as for colouring previously finished woods, such as antique restoration. Liberon Spirit Wood Dye is easy to apply and with a new ethanol-based formula, it comes in a range of intermixable colours.

Bare Wood Preparation

Ensure the surface to be dyed is clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt or other contaminants. Fill any holes, splits or gaps with a suitable wood filler. Ensure that the wood has been sanded. Remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum or damp cloth.

Previously Treated Wood Preparation

Ensure the surface to be dyed is clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt or any other contaminants. All existing finishes must be completely removed back to bare wood. Old wax finishes can be removed with Liberon Wax and Polish Remover. Remove any existing varnish finishes with a suitable paint stripper or varnish remover. Alternatively, old finishes can be removed by sanding. If sanding, remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum or damp cloth.

Application

Shake Liberon Wood Dye well before use. Apply a coat with a brush or cloth, working with the grain where possible. Allow the stain to penetrate into the wood, then remove the excess with a clean cotton cloth. For a stronger colour, apply a second coat after four hours. When dry, Liberon Spirit Wood Dye may be finished with a water-based varnish, wax or oil.
