Speed up your dry mounting by using SpeedMount

Dry mounting with a mounting board ready coated with heat activated adhesive is faster than working with Dry Mount Tissue. The result bonds art on paper to mountboard and the print stays flat with low risk of humidity causing rippling.

SpeedMount has the pH neutral heat-activated adhesive ready coated onto the 1.25mm smooth white face mounting board. The adhesive is non-tacky when cold.

Manufactured in UK by ColourMount, SpeedMount dry mounting board can reduce process time by comparison with using dry mounting tissue. The heat activated adhesive works best with art on smoother papers.

To use SpeedMount cut the board to size, slightly larger than the print to be mounted. Centre the print on top, face up. Then place release paper larger than the board over that, silicone side down. This prevents any adhesive touching the platen surface of the press.

Set the press to 80°C – 90°C. When the press is closed, allow a dwell time of 2 - 3 minutes. Ideal settings for both will be determined with experience. The edges of the workpiece sometimes bond first so take care to ensure that the centre of the print has also bonded.

Remove ‘sandwich’ from the press and place on flat surface to cool before handling. A suitable weight will always help it cool flat. The bonding is intended to be permanent and can be difficult to reverse.

SpeedMount storage: Keep wrapped and ideally store at an RH of 45-65% and 15°C - 23°C.
